About a word that has followed me for twenty years, a tattoo in Athens, and the space between who you were and what is ready to be seen.
Walk through a cemetery sometime.
On every gravestone, you’ll see two years.
And between them, a dash.
That dash is not a detail. It’s the whole life.
Everything you chose.
Everything you didn’t dare to.
Everything you built, lost, loved and reinvented.
Your dash.
The word
Back in 2005, when I needed a name for my work, one word came to me.
Dash.
It was a different world then. Football. Power, drive, movement on the field.
Dash became the name of my one-woman business. Later, it became the name of my dog too.
Some words simply stay with you. They grow alongside you, shift meaning as you shift, and patiently wait until one day you finally understand what they came to tell you.
Dash became TASH.
Not because it was “time for a rebrand.” It was a shift. The brand simply grew with what I was beginning to understand myself.
That branding isn’t about looking better. It’s about becoming clearer.
That visibility isn’t about shouting louder. It’s about showing what’s true.
Athens
That dash now lives on my wrist too.
A golden afternoon in Athens. Sunshine. My favourite sister and two glorious friends. Rosé in hand, plenty of laughter, even more truth.
I told them about this blog. That it was finished. But that I was hesitating. Was I allowed to say it this raw? This close to the skin?
The answer didn’t come in words. It came in ink.
From Dash to TASH
We found a tattoo shop and decided on the spot. €65 for the needle. The real value? Priceless.
The Dash Club was born. There are three of us. Possibly four soon.
But this isn’t really about tattoos.
It’s about not waiting until everything is finished before you begin.
In between
For a lot of entrepreneurs, that’s exactly where the tension lives.
They’ve grown. Their brand hasn’t caught up yet.
They’ve changed. Their website is still telling the old story.
There’s more in them than their communication currently shows.
So they wait. Until things calm down. Until the website is finished. Until it feels “professional enough.”
Meanwhile, the dash keeps filling itself in.
Brand work doesn’t begin with a colour palette or a new font. It begins with what is already inside that dash today. What you’ve built. What you’ve outgrown. What no longer needs to stay hidden.
That’s why at TASH, we don’t build branding on top of someone. We look for the line that’s already there. And give it one clear form.
Not breaking away from everything that came before.
Simply choosing what gets to come with you.
Now
A brand that truly fits doesn’t feel like a mask. It feels like coming home. For you. For your team. For the people who need to understand why you are the one they’ve been looking for.
Your brand is not a façade.
It’s your dash.
And your dash isn’t happening later. It’s happening now.
What’s inside yours today?
